Interview in Pages in a Pandemic: A Collective, February 26, 2021 (online)

"...certain themes I’ve been writing have been my favorite to explore. I’ve written some flash pieces and poems that are connected to food, culture, memory, relationships, and family. I love the idea of sensory details connecting to memories, and food is one vehicle to discover those connections."

Interview in Asians in America, March 2, 2020 (online)

"The history, animosity, and stereotypes between Pakistan and India, however, were what seeped into my suburban life in Maryland. I’ve started reconciling all the different threads of my identity. First in my undergraduate memoir class, where I poured everything out as if it was therapy, and second at a summer program at the University of Iowa...with young writers from India, Pakistan, and the U.S. I was physically surrounded by three pieces of my identity, able to watch them interact and blend together. It gave me the confidence to finally start owning and exploring my voice, perspective, and identity through writing."

I hope that my stories inspire readers to find happiness in their daily lives."

"Intern Feature: Mariya Khan" in the To the Market blog (online)

"I know that no matter what job I pursue, I want to be involved with anything that uplifts diverse, marginalized voices through storytelling (which can come in many forms). This even applies to my creative writing...TO THE MARKET helped me realize how important and impactful storytelling can be. I would love to be an Editor and champion stories about and from marginalized individuals."
